Hello, I’m Robert Baumander and I am a Big Year Birder. After seeing the movie, The Big Year 2012, I caught the birding bug and did an ABA Big Year having never before used binoculars. But before all that began, I was a magician, escape artist, photographer, balancer of rocks, pitchman of the Amazing Chamois, carnival barker, cyclist, and video coordinator for the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club for over 40 years. One of the Jays players once said, “You’re the “Dos Equis” guy.” I wouldn’t go that far, but I did a lot before my passion for birding took over my life. Now, in addition to birding nearly every day of the year, I host The Big Year Podcast and am working on my book, The Trans-Canada Jay Highway, about my adventures birding across Canada during my 2022 Canada Big Year.
